Your own home

Renovating, building, or reworking a space that has never quite functioned. We guide the design decisions, coordinate the suppliers and trades, and stay involved through to the finish.

How we work with you

  1. The first conversation

We meet at your home or talk over a call. We want to understand what you are trying to achieve, what is not working, and what a good outcome looks like for you.

  2. The brief

We write down what we have discussed: your needs, your wants, the budget, and the scope. This becomes the shared reference point for the whole project, and we come back to it whenever a decision gets difficult.

  3. Concept and direction

Spatial planning, material palette, and the design direction. We review together and refine until it is right.

  4. Documentation

Drawings, schedules, specification and supplier quotes. This is the stage that decides how well the design is executed, because the people building your home can only work from what is written down. The more detail we provide, the better the result.

  5. The page by page walkthrough

At the end of documentation we sit down with you and go through the finished design and plans page by page. Nothing is ordered or built until you understand the finer specifics of what has been designed.

  6. Through the build

Site visits, supplier coordination, and the decisions that come up once things are underway. Then the finishing touches that pull it all together.

The design process

We love that our new layout is sympathetic to the rest of the house and integrates seamlessly. It's like it should always have been that way. We suddenly have so much more usable space and a beautiful powder room for our guests.

We will advise you of a design fee based on the scale of your project. There is no standard rate, because there is no standard project, and we would rather quote something accurate than publish a number that turns out not to apply to you.

Once the fee is agreed, the work moves into documentation, and from there the process is deliberately thorough. You will know what the project involves, what is required of you, and where things stand at every stage.

Straightforward, thorough and transparent. That is how a design project should feel from beginning to end.

What we ask of you

My bathrooms make me happy.

Honesty about the budget, early. It is the single most useful thing a client can give us, and it is the thing people most often hold back. We can design well to almost any number, but only if we know what the number is.

Time for the decisions that matter. Some choices can be made quickly. A few deserve a proper conversation.

Willingness to be brave occasionally. The rooms our clients love most are almost always the ones where they went a step further than felt comfortable.

Let's talk about your home

Every good project starts with a conversation. Tell us a little about what you are planning and we will be in touch.
