This was an opportunity to revisit the interior of a Victorian building from 1910, as part of a seismic upgrade.
The object was to keep as many of the original features as we could while adding two new function areas, with a newly created bar for each. A new west-facing balcony gave the bar valuable outdoor space, and underneath it a new outdoor area adjacent to the large entertainment space opened up the footprint.
It is a sympathetic renovation that stays in keeping with the original building, but we had some fun too. We draped railway sleepers in lights, which did mean we had to get the roof strengthened.
