The client came to us wanting a space set apart from what Dunedin already had. Somewhere that could hold all the different moments they wanted to offer, from brunch through to late-night DJs, with a serious kitchen behind it.

The building's historical bones gave us the direction, and the concept took flight from there: the idea of a journey taken into the woods, from the lighter fringes of the forest through to the dark jewelled heart.
